Chihiros Filter Hose Pro

Anyone who has wrestled cold, rigid PVC hose onto a canister barb in July knows why this product exists. Filter Hose Pro is food-grade silicone: it stays supple in a cold cabinet and through hot summers, seats onto fittings without a kettle of boiling water, and its opaque matte-grey wall means the algae film that colonises every filter line simply never becomes part of your aquascape’s look. Three metres, supplied as two 1.5 m lengths — one for intake, one for return.

Size: 9/12 mm

Grey on purpose

Clear hose looks great for a fortnight, then documents every speck of biofilm until you scrub it. The Pro’s stone-grey wall keeps the inevitable invisible, pairing naturally with the hardware-free look of a Chihiros setup.

Silicone beats PVC where it counts

No winter stiffening, no summer stickiness, no plasticiser smell — and a service life north of ten years. The smooth sprayed surface resists dust on the outside while the soft wall absorbs pump vibration instead of transmitting it to the cabinet.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose silicone hose over normal clear PVC?

PVC stiffens in winter, fights you onto barbs and shows every speck of algae. Food-grade silicone stays soft year-round, seats without hot water, lasts 10+ years — and the matte-grey wall hides the biofilm every filter line grows.

How much hose is in a pack, and which size do I need?

Three metres, supplied as two 1.5 m lengths for intake and return. Sizes 9/12, 12/16, 16/21 and 19/25 mm — match your filter’s hose barbs.
